Dear Esteemed Members of the Religions for Peace (RfP) Global Women of Faith Network,

Warmest greetings for the New Year!

Your skillful leadership and dedicated work made 2012 a wonderful year for the RfP Global Women of Faith Network. RfP women of faith leaders advanced interfaith collaboration for peace and development across the globe. Women of faith in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda supported survivors of armed violence and mobilized the religious communities to reduce the use of small arms and light weapons. At the global level, the network successfully continued its Restoring Dignity Initiative in partnership with our Global Interfaith Youth Networks (GIYN) and provided gender sensitivity training workshops, lobbied lawmakers and increased awareness on the various forms of violence against women in Argentina, India, The Philippines, Kenya and Uganda.

We look forward, in 2013, to working together to continue to advance the critical work of RfP Global Women of Faith Network. As part of the great work carried out by the Women of Faith Network, RfP will be organizing an event entitled “Religion, Women and Violence” on March 7th at 6:15 p.m. at the Armenian Convention Center’s V-Hall during the fifty-seventh session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) on March 4-15, 2013 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. This official CSW side event is the third series of the RfP seminar on “Religion, Women and Peacebuilding” to promote the strategic engagement of women of faith as agents of peace and security and will be co-sponsored by the United Nations Women, The Carter Center, Princeton University Office for Religious Life, Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Salvation Army International Social Justice Commission, The Maryknoll Sisters, The United Methodist and Uniting Church Women, Women in Islam, The Committee of Religious NGOs at the United Nations and The Institute for Global Engagement. RfP International Secretariat wishes to welcome RfP women of faith leaders who are already planning on attending the CSW to this side event.

You are also cordially invited to an informal consultation on March 7th at 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. at the RfP headquarters on the ninth floor of the UN Church Center at 777 United Nations Plaza, situated at the corner of East 44th Street and 1st Avenue, New York.

Kindly inform us if you are planning to attend CSW and your schedule in New York. Your presence and participation at the RfP Informal Consultation and the CSW official side event will be a great honor to all of us. Unfortunately at this time RfP will not be able to sponsor participants’ flights, accommodations or meals. Please contact Miss Elida Jbeili for confirmation of your participation and/or any inquires at

With appreciation for your ongoing leadership and partnership, I remain

Most sincerely yours,
